Is The Logitech G815 Lightsync RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Still Good? OR Better In 2023?

A design that surpasses traditional keyboard, the Logitech G815 LIGHTSYNC RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

With mechanical keyboard enthusiasts going crazy over the “music” that mechanical keyboard produces during their games, it is still an “IN” thing in 2023! Let us share with you what the Logitech G815 LIGHTSYNC RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard can do in 2023!

For a start, most gamers are either students that are still in their tertiary education stage or they could also be working professionals (No age boundaries for gaming! Even my dad at age 65 is still playing games). Gamers tend to want a keyboard that is flexible and yet immersive that is suitable for both games and work/study. The G815 totally fit the bill.

Switches – Clicky, but not noisy

The keyboard is made with a low-profile design paired with 3 different types of mechanical switches, and we picked the GL Clicky option for this keyboard to test how loud it is for a low-profile keyboard.

Surprisingly, compared to other low profile keyboard options, this keyboard is rather quiet and isn’t annoying at all. It became clear that Logitech have manage to create and replicate the experience of a mechanical keyboard but reduced the sound significantly to enable a more immersive typing/gaming experience.

Take a look at the video below captured on the typing experience in an office environment, you can clearly hear the typing sound but at the same time in an office environment, random conversions by the people nearby can still be heard. It offers a balance of sound that is suitable for you and the people around you.

Redefining comfort with design

This keyboard has much to offer in terms of comfort, in which we were not expecting.

Almost the same height as an SGD 20 cent coin, the design felt more towards the ergonomic end of the spectrum and after usage there are no sores on the wrist. As a person that types closed to 12 hours a day for work and a little over 2 hours for games, it is rather comfortable at the default height with the feet down.

However, with the keyboard feet up, it became slightly higher but it still feels natural as well. The two mentioned height was tested with a couple of hours each, to see if the comfort is really there, and we were impressed with the comfort, it just feels natural.

Unique roller/scroll for media/entertainment

On the right side of the keyboard, there is a few buttons for entertainment that is easy to work with. Comes built with soft buttons and a scroll wheel that you can easily reach. It became natural after 1-2 hours of usage. This is a plus for having something extras on the side that you can fiddle your fingers with during your movies or music.

Verdict – Unexpected

Verdict of this keyboard is that it is unexpectedly great! We were not expecting that this keyboard will give you any comfort or immersive typing experience. Each keystroke during the type test is comfortable and yet familiar. It might be slightly difficult to get the hang of at first, but it works well as a keyboard suitable for both gaming and working. It’s a combination of flexibility that most users can work with, gaming for night and working for day.

Bonus – macro keys, better for gaming

There is a bonus feature with this keyboard and that is the extra keys built on the extreme left side. With an additional 5 keys made available, gamers can set the skills they need to cater to their left hand creating a more intuitive presses that enable players to play more effectively for their games.
